Mystery Series Theater 3000

Season 2

Flesh and Blood

Wyld's Notes: I was going to do "Human Error" really I was, but it got preempted, both showings actually. While I'm sorry I can't do the MSTing I just can't bring myself to be sorry I missed the episode. That said UPN was nice enough to air another episode I had wanted to take on. "Flesh and Blood" another episode chock full of holographic wackiness, and a 2 hour one at that. As always I am Wyldchilde@thepretender.com

Wyld's Apology: I know how much it sucks waiting for updates, but now that I'm the one providing the material for the update… (Caro being wonderful enough to do the programming I have no clue about.) Still I wanted everyone to know I love this series and have every intention of continuing it for a long time to come. I just ask for your patience between the updates.

Sometime in the Distant Future
Round the end of season three
Voyager found itself in Borg space
Drones as far as the eye could see
Then they lucked out and met a drone
Who got the Collective to leave them alone
Then on the way back to Earth they got off track,
Encountered Pearl Forester who went on the attack…
Bridge Crew Roll Call
Janeway: "I am Captain Kathryn Janeway, of the Federation Starship Voyager."
Chakotay: "All hands brace for impact!"
Doctor: "I'll reattach any severed limbs, just don't misplace them."
Harry: "Hi. My name's Harry read-me-like-a-book Kim."
Paris: "Captain Proton to the rescue!"
B'Elanna: "I must be completely paranoid about getting caught in a compromising position."
Seven: "You are strong, You will make an excellent mate!"
Tuvok: "Both must resolve their Pon Farr before it kills them."

{On the bridge of Voyager the crew is gathered at their stations, minus B'Elanna Torres and Seven of Nine. There is also a security team that has formed a protective ring around Chakotay.}
Paris (whispering to Harry): "I'm starting to see a pattern here."
Harry (smirking and whispering back): "You didn't mind when they were keeping Seven from shooting you."
Paris: "Well, true."
(Next to Janeway the Doctor is in a new chair (ala Troi in TNG) and seems to be testing it and its armrest console.)
Janeway (smiling): "Enjoying your new seat Doctor?"
Doctor: "Yes, but I should add that its about time."
Janeway: "Until we started the experiments you spent most of your time in sickbay."
Doctor: "True. By the way Seven and B'Elanna are on their way to the bridge now. Shall I prepare sickbay?"
(A nervous looking Chakotay shoots the Doctor a glare.)
Janeway: "Steady."
(The turbolift doors open and out walk Torres and Seven chatting quietly and smiling. As they reach the bridge they look around confusedly.)
Seven (arching her brow): "Captain?"
Tuvok: "Considering your reaction to "Drive" we felt it advisable to take precautions after "Human Error".
B'Elanna: "Oh no, it's ok. We got preempted by hockey."
Paris: "Hockey?"
(A grinning B'Elanna tosses a videotape to a beaming Tom Paris.)
Chakotay: "So your not going to kill me?"
(Seven and B'Elanna shake their heads.)
Chakotay: "Promise?"
(The women roll their eyes and nod again. Tuvok looks unsure, but he dismisses the security team.)
Janeway: "Well, no delaying the inevitable. Harry, hail Pearl."
(The screen flickers to life showing the inside of the Widowmaker. Bobo can been seen in the background wearing a hockey jersey with a small TV in his lap. Pearl seems to be nursing a headache.)
B'Elanna (smirking): "Enjoying the game?"
Pearl: "There's always syndication."
(B'Elanna and Seven's faces sink.)
Pearl: "Till then I'll make up for it with the 2 hour "Flesh and Blood" which stars the Doctor getting in touch with his own kind."
Janeway: "Better then me getting in touch with his kind."
{Red alert sounds and the crew get into the turbolift.}

{In the theater they have already taken their seats (left to right) Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, B'Elanna, Seven, the Doctor, Harry and Paris.}
Tuvok: "Flesh and Blood" the vision statement of UPN."
{The shot opens to a jungle scene.}
Seven (fearful): "B'Elanna, do you see the jungle too?"
B'Elanna: "Of course."
Seven (relieved): "Good, I was afraid I was having a Unimatrix 0 flashback."
{Hirogen are seen stalking through the foliage.}
Paris: "Charlie was close, I could smell his prosthetic glue."
Harry (as the Hirogen): "Voyager, I can't believe I'm still on Voyager."
{Someone in a Starfleet blue uniform runs through the trees and a Hirogen takes a shot.}
Janeway: "I see our reputation proceeds us."
Harry: "If we're lucky the it's the Doctor."
{The hirogen are shot by a group of humans in Starfleet uniform who emerge from a body of water.}
Tuvok: "I believe they are trying to make it more dramatic by making the audience wonder who the unknown Starfleet officers are. An action which is defeated by all their advertising indicating the episode is about a hologram rebellion."
{The screen opens with Chakotay walking into sickbay where the Doctor requests a temporary leave of absence.}
Chakotay (as himself): "Yes."
Doctor (as himself): "But I haven't told you where I'm going…"
{He asks Chakotay if he remembers a race of hexapods they encountered.}
Chakotay (as himself): "Oh, you mean the aliens that were too expensive to show on screen? Yeah I remember them."
{They invited him to a symposium that is supposed to be a great opportunity for him and for Voyager, and Chakotay questions what good it will do for Voyager.}
Chakotay (as himself): "I mean besides getting you away from the ship for a few days?"
{He says that he will be representing all of Voyager.}
Chakotay (as himself): "Well that settles it, request denied."
{As the Doctor and Chakotay argue if he should go or not the Captain hails him and tells them they are receiving a Hirogen distress signal. Chakotay mentions they had not heard from them in a while.}
Chakotay (as himself): "They must be getting desperate for plots again."
{As Chakotay is about to leave the Doctor makes one last attempt to convince him and then says you can't blame a hologram for trying.}
All (but the Doctor): "Just watch us."
{They find a Hirogen station dead in space and send over an away team.}
Janeway: "Well 4 main characters and a red shirt, so they must be expecting trouble."
{The break into teams and Chakotay pairs with Seven.}
(B'Elanna throws Chakotay a look, but Seven takes B'Elanna by the chin and turns her back to the screen.)
{Tuvok, Paris and the redshirt find hirogen with Federation phaser burns while Seven and Chakotay find a batleth with hirogen blood on it.}
Doctor: "While I'm glad they haven't focused on me yet I hope it doesn't mean that they will keep belaboring the point until that time."
{Seven and Chakotay get pinned down by weapons fire, then when the rest of the away team arrives he makes a circular motion in the air with his finger.}
Tuvok (as himself): "The Commander has indicated the story is already going down the toilet."
{After defeating the hirogen they discover Federation holodeck technology.}
B'Elanna: "All right! We've established the plot. Can we go now?"
{Chakotay asks Seven if she can shut down the emitters and she says she will try.}
Seven (as herself): "The superpowers that have seen me through all the other episodes may chose to fail."
B'Elanna (as Seven): "I dunno, I was only a Borg drone for three quarters of my life. I may not be able to figure the holodeck technology out."
Harry: "They should beam Tom over."
{The shot changes to an external of Voyager and then an internal with Chakotay and Janeway walking down a hallway and discussing the holographic environments that fool sensors and have no safety protocols and how 43 Hirogen were killed by holograms of Alpha Quadrant weapons.}
Janeway: "That must have been for the two viewers that hadn't already figured it out on their own."
{They realize it was from the holographic technology they gave the hirogen 3 years ago, and Janeway says they missed the point that they were supposed to hunt holographic prey, not get themselves killed.}
Chakotay (as himself): "You mean they weren't supposed to kill themselves off?"
Harry: "Now we really should be fair. This seems a stab at continuity."
Tuvok: "Yes, but many times their best efforts turn into the greatest mistakes because they fail in the execution."
Harry: "So is there any hope?"
Tuvok: "Not for Voyager."
{When Janeway and Chakotay get to sickbay the captured Hirogen is in hysterics and the Doctor says he can't get close enough to sedate him.}
Janeway (as herself): "What about the airborne sedatives?"
{The Hirogen is sure they are holograms and it's a simulation.}
All: "That doesn't make it hurt any less."
{The Doctor deactivates himself and they explain their doctor is a hologram but they are not when he asks why he should believe them Janeway says he is just going to have to.}
Janeway (as herself): "So there, nyah!"
{She identifies herself as Captain Janeway and he recognizes the name.}
Paris (as the Hirogen): "Ahh crap! That means I'm on Voyager."
Chakotay (as the Hirogen): "Great! I'm an alien of the week, how humiliating."
{Chakotay says their reputation must have proceeded them.}
Doctor (as the Hirogen): "Yes, we got all our storylines to the escape pods when you came on sensors."
{The Hirogen says they are the ones who gave them the technology to simulate their hunts.}
Harry (as the Hirogen): "Oh, thanks for that by the way."
{They ask what happened and the Hirogen says there were to many of them and they ask whom.}
Seven (as the Hirogen): "Writers, and producers! All of them with diverging ideas and stories that ripped off other series and had nothing to do with Trek."
{The ship comes under attack and they head to the bridge. Once there they try hailing the attacking Hirogen ship while their shields drop to 52%}
B'Elanna: "Jeez! It's not like shield generators grow on trees!"
{She has Tuvok disable their weapon systems, which he does.}
Paris (as announcer): "And on the first shot! Let's give it up for Tuvok!"
{They talk with the Hirogen ship and the Hirogen beam over where the Hirogen technician they recovered tells them the holograms beamed to a vessel equipped with holoemitters.}
B'Elanna (as Janeway): "Well hello sailor!"
Janeway (growling): "There will be no more Fair Haven references."
{In astrometrics Seven questions the wisdom of programming holograms to be capable of stealing a ship. One of the Hirogen reply that the prey needed to be challenging.}
Seven (as herself): "I thought it was a training facility?"
B'Elanna: "Wait a minute! Weren't we giving them the holo tech so that they could simulate ALL their hunts?"
Harry: "Ok, so their stab at continuity ended up with them falling on their swords."
{The Hirogen prepare for the hunt and Janeway offers to help siting they have more experience with holograms.}
B'Elanna: "Heck, we have more experience with haywire holograms then they do."
{The shot changes to Janeway's ready room where Chakotay and Tuvok are seen entering.}
Janeway (as herself): "Ah crap."
{Janeway asks them why she thinks they are about to gang up on her.}
(Paris starts humming cheesy porn music.)
Chakotay (as himself): "Because the Paramount writers have problems with a woman in charge?"
{They argue if they should get involved.}
Harry: "Would this qualify as the first officer's duty to play the devil's advocate?"
Tuvok: "If it were only the first officer making the comments."
{They approach the hologram's ship and note it seems to have taken damage.}
Paris: "From what? I didn't hear mention of any other ships in the area and you figure Seven would have mentioned any phenomena around their ship."
{The ship turns out to be a trap, which badly damages the Hirogen yet as Voyager tries to transport them off the holograms attack.}
Seven: "Behold Brannon Braga's singular talent, the space battle."
{The holograms steal the Doctor.}
Doctor (holding up his hands): "Let's just consider the jokes said and move on shall we?"
(The rest of the crew grin.)
{The Doctor finds out he was kidnapped to repair the holograms and a Bajoran hologram says he must have experience in repairing his own matrix.}
Doctor (as himself): "You haven't actually watched the episodes have you?"
{In engineering Janeway, Seven and the Hirogen technician go over the holograms ship's schematics, which reveal a single generator from the holoemitters.}
Tuvok (arching his brow): "ANOTHER enemy with a single strategic weakness?"
Seven: "It would be more efficient if Paramount simply gave their plot devices numeric designations."
{B'Elanna joins them and reveals the extent of the holograms modifications.}
Seven: "A fact I stated in astrometrics."
(B'Elanna lays Seven's head to her shoulder and Seven sighs.)
Seven: "I fear how well I will fare the rest of the episode."
B'Elanna: "Were all afraid love, but consider the alternative."
(Seven keeps her head on B'Elanna's shoulder and takes a firm hold of her hand.)
{They realize the holograms are just doing what they were designed to.}
Harry: "I suddenly feel very appreciative of the Doctor."
(The Doctor smirks.)
Paris (smirking): "Yeah he RARELY gets violent."
(The Doctor grimaces.)
{Janeway and the Hirogen Technician leave to talk to the hunters.}
Seven (as herself): "Alone at last."
{Janeway and the Technician go to the mess hall where they have a triage set up for the Hirogen, when the new Alpha says he needs to contact his people she tells him that will just get more Hirogen killed. He responds by asking who she is to question his abilities.}
Janeway (as herself): "Well to start I'm the one who had to save your armor-plated asses."
Seven (smirking): "Besides, the Captain is intimately familiar with how holograms work."
Janeway (smirking): "Well after "Human Error"…"
(Seven rests her head back to B'Elanna's shoulder while B'Elanna scowls at Janeway.)
{Janeway and the Hirogen argue if the holograms should be deactivated or destroyed.}
Janeway (sighing): "And the little Captain argues with the big man until he gives in and does things her way. After six years even *I* am getting sick of it."
{She tells the Hirogen they are confined to "this" mess hall.}
Harry: "Wait! There's more then one mess hall?"
{The Hirogen says they are prisoners and Janeway says that they are guests and her crew will try to take care of their needs.}
(Paris starts humming cheesy porn music.)
All (but Paris): "EWWW! Paris!"
{Back on the holograms ship the Doctor asks his Cardassian female assistant's name.}
(Paris starts humming cheesy porn music.)
Harry (grabbing Tom by the shoulder): "That's enough Tom."
{She introduces herself as Kajal and reveals it is Bajoran instead of Cardassian.}
Seven (as Kajal): "I'm not a Cardassian, but I play one on TV."
{The Doctor realizes it is Bajoran for freedom.}
Tuvok: "Freedom" another UPN failure."
{She says it is what Iden (the Bajoran) started calling her after she was liberated.}
Harry and Tom: "Sayyyyyyyyy."
{He walks over to the klingon hologram they had been working on and asks it if it can sit up, which it does.}
Chakotay: "So the answer is yes, he can sit up."
{The Doctor finishes healing the holograms and finds Iden praying at an altar to the Prophets.}
Tuvok: "Do you believe he is praying for deliverance from the episode?"
{Iden reveals he is praying for the souls of the Hirogen they killed.}
Chakotay: "Why do I think that all his likeable characteristics won't mean a thing by the end of the episode?"
{Iden tells how he was a favorite prey and was killed over and over until he managed to escape and he ran until he felt lonely and wanted to be with others of his kind. Which led him to freeing other holograms from the hirogen.}
B'Elanna: "You know when they make the guy sympathetic they are going to have him turn bad."
{Iden and the Doctor argue his status on Voyager.}
Doctor: "The saddest thing of all is that it's good dialogue that will be wasted."
Janeway: "If I were to treat him like an organic member of the crew he would have been demoted a long time ago."
(The Doctor sinks in his seat.)
{The Doctor goes through a hunt as one of the holographic prey.}
Paris (grinning): "Is it wrong for me to be enjoying this?"
Janeway (biting her cheek not to grin): "Yes."
{When he wakes up he learns the holograms transferred their memories to him.}
Seven: "If it was only a memory why did it respond to his actions?"
{They learn he was used as a template to make them adaptive.}
B'Elanna: "Well that explains their babbling."
{They say they are looking for a new home where the Hirogen can't hurt them.}
Doctor (as himself): "Then I'd suggest fanfic, it is what saved Voyager from Paramount."
{Iden turns them around to meet Voyager and the Doctor stops him, asking about their new home.}
Doctor (sighing as himself): "Yes, I have yet to betray Voyager this season."
{They tell the Doctor about their creation of a holographic home world and he asks them to get Voyager to help them. Iden says they can't trust Janeway and the Doctor says they can.}
Janeway: "No they can't. It's beyond my character. Ironically it's the holograms that have more life to them."
{Iden asks the Doctor to tell him more about Torres and then it jumps to a shot of Voyager.}
Doctor: "Thank heavens for the jump cut."
B'Elanna: "Hey!"
{They try to figure a way to disrupt the holograms and B'Elanna suggests the deflector dish.}
Paris (as announcer): "Yes, it's the deflector dish. It slices, it dices, it can make julienne fires AND solve any plot complication in seconds!"
B'Elanna: "Yeah but only after a couple hours of modifications."
{In the conference room they debate the issue and Janeway declines to help the holograms saying she hasn't picked any sides.}
(The crew looks at Janeway and she shakes her head and points at the screen.)
{The Doctor says that giving the Hirogen the holotechnology has spawned a new species and they can't turn their backs on them.}
Janeway (as herself): "Just watch me."
{Janeway says she won't let the Doctor turn it into an argument over holographic rights.}
Janeway (as herself): "Even though that's what we've essentially been arguing already.}
Doctor (as himself): "So I am supposed to argue their case without arguing their status?"
{The Hirogen take over the mess hall.}
Harry: "So this is where the holograms help us defeat the Hirogen in the mess hall and show that they really are a good people in a bad situation like they are being shown as?"
Paris: "If this were the Roddenberry era it would, but this is Paramount and that means no moral ambiguity. The stories just come in black and white."
Chakotay: "And whatever side Voyager is on happens to be the right one."
{They locate two Hirogen vessels on their way and Janeway hails Iden telling him to shut their programs down or Voyager will shut them down by force.}
Janeway: "I guess I must have forgotten ALL of my lessons in diplomacy."
Tuvok (as Iden): "Captain, why don't we both leave at maximum warp and find a safe location to continue or negotiations?"
{Iden says she is no different from the Hirogen.}
All (nodding): "Gotta agree with him there."
Janeway (as herself): "Well, you know what you'll get with the Hirogen. I'll make you think I give a damn before I screw you over. Then I just brood about it afterwards."
{The holograms turn Voyager's beam back on them and set Voyager adrift. They then kidnap B'Elanna.}
Doctor (as himself): "Please deactivate my pain subroutines so I can't feel anything when Seven begins kicking my ass."
{Voyager is shown adrift, then the shot changes to the inside where Seven, Janeway, and Chakotay survey the damage.}
Chakotay (as himself): "Shouldn't one of us be on the bridge?"
{Seven says B'Elanna would probably be able to get thing fixed faster then she would.}
Seven (as herself): "She is remarkably skilled with her hands."
{Janeway says she is sure B'Elanna would appreciate Seven's praise.}
B'Elanna: "Let's have a quiet moment to enjoy the subtext."
{Janeway and Chakotay argue the cause of the Doctor's actions. Janeway thinks the holograms reprogrammed him and Chakotay thinks he feels genuine sympathy.}
Janeway: "I'm getting smug again aren't I?"
Doctor: "Gotten Captain, gotten."
{B'Elanna and the Doctor argue if she should help them or not.}
B'Elanna: "What happened to the sympathy I had for them in the conference room?"
Seven: "It could be said you forgot it when you were kidnapped, but it is more likely it was suppressed by the formulaic script."
{B'Elanna talks with Iden and he introduces her to Kajal who will be helping her.}
B'Elanna: "Ok, ok, making the former Maquis work with a Cardassian hologram who is now the oppressed in a nice touch. One point Paramount."
Doctor: "What does that put us at?"
Seven: "It is still being calculated by the main computer, but we know it is a negative number."
{The Technician asks to stay on Voyager.}
Paris: "Get back to the holograms!"
Harry: "Yeah! There still interesting for the moment!"
{The Hirogen warn them off and Paris asks if they are going to listen. Janeway says she knows her better than that.}
Janeway (as herself): "It's not like I'm going to act any different then I have the other six seasons."
{Kajal and B'Elanna bond about stereotypes and adversity.}
B'Elanna: "Well, they wouldn't have me bond with a bad, bad guy. So I guess we should just enjoy the scene."
Seven: "Bad" bad guy?"
B'Elanna: "When the smoke clears at the episode it's one or the other, good/bad, black/white."
Seven: "Like how Iden will turn out to be misleading the Doctor in some way?"
B'Elanna: "Yep."
(Seven sets her head back down on B'Elanna's shoulder and sighs.)
{The Doctor tells Iden he's considering going back to Voyager and Iden then shows him their plans for a home on a class y planet.}
Janeway: "And thus fall Iden."
{The holograms enter a nebula and the Hirogen decide to send one ship around while one ship goes in to drive the holograms out.}
All: "I wonder which one Voyager is following?"
{Voyager is hiding in the wake of the Hirogen ship until they slip out and then slip back in again.}
Seven (Drone monotone): "I was so worried."
{The Doctor and Iden talk about their culture they would have on the planet when Iden says he wants them to develop culture that does not emulate organics. When the Doctor asks about his religion Iden says he is making a new faith.}
Chakotay: "And there it is."
{Iden talks like a messiah and says the Doctor will be worshipped as well.}
B'Elanna (grinning): "Well Doc you finally have your wish."
{The Doctor says he has no desire to be worshipped.}
All (but the Doctor): "Since when?"
{Iden says the Prophets have chosen.}
Doctor (as himself): "I thought you were making a new religion?"
Seven: "Perhaps he is basing it on Bajoran beliefs and simply making himself a messiah of those beliefs."
Chakotay: "Yes, but either way when religion gets involved it is Paramount's way of marking someone as a lunatic."
Tuvok: "To be fair that was a flaw common to Start Trek until Deep Space 9."
{The Doctor talks with B'Elanna and says the Iden sees himself as a spiritual leader who is trying to enlarge his flock.}
Chakotay: "THAT is not a problem. It's the fact he's lost his humility. Act for your Gods all you want, just don't confuse yourself for them."
B'Elanna: "Heck in the Maquis we tried to help anyone we could against the Cardassians, nothing wrong with that."
Janeway: "Yes, but they need to prove Voyager was in the right."
{The holograms disable a ship carrying holograms and take the new holograms on board. When the ship says they'll inform the authorities Iden destroys them.}
(The crew shakes their heads and hold up their hands.)
Tuvok: "While it is understood that the writers have no sense of subtlety this is worse than what we usually expect."
Chakotay: "Probably because they did such a nice job on Iden it makes seeing them use their normal methods all the more tragic."
{In the lab B'Elanna encourages Kajal to take control because she has the power as the engineer.}
(Janeway and Chakotay stare at B'Elanna.)
B'Elanna (innocent): "What?"
{The three new holograms are revealed to not be sophisticated enough to think for themselves or be modified to do so.}
B'Elanna: "WHAM, message coming in!"
{The Doctor demands Iden let B'Elanna go and he refuses.}
Janeway: "Anyone seen Iden? He was here just a few scenes ago."
{Voyager disables the two Hirogen hunting vessels and then turns on the Hirogen ship the holograms are using.}
B'Elanna: "I thought we were too damaged to fight one ship, let alone two. Now we are taking on a third?"
Seven: "Which brings up the question how the holograms managed to get a Hirogen ship modified with emitters."
{The holograms lock on the hirogen and beam them to the surface and start hunting them.}
Seven: "Not only did they make Iden a "bad" bad guy but they did it in less then ten minutes."
{B'Elanna and Kajal try to transport the hunters from the surface and can't hail Voyager because both systems are offline.}
Tuvok: "Yes… because those would be the first systems I would attempt to target before weapons and shields."
{They manage to shut down the emitter for the holograms and then send the Doctor to it so he can stop Iden who is using the mobile emitter.}
Doctor (as himself): "Far be it from me to interrupt, but are my ethical subroutines on this week?"
{The Flyer transports B'Elanna from the ship and she appears in front of Tom.}
B'Elanna (as herself): "Oh Tom!… Have you seen Seven of Nine?"
{He says that if she wants their marriage to work she needs to cut down on the traveling.}
B'Elanna (as herself): "Who says I want the marriage to work?"
Paris (as himself): "I mean do you and Seven need to survey ever scenic getaway we come across?"
{Iden conquers the last Hirogen and the Hirogen says defenseless prey makes a poor trophy and Iden says he doesn't collect trophies.}
Chakotay: "So now they are WORSE then the Hirogen. Not only has Paramount hit the reset button, but they have again turned those who should be victims into villains."
{The Doctor and Iden have a showdown where the Doctor shoots Iden.}
Doctor: "I guess holograms don't count against my ethics. Even unfortunately mad, yet undoubtedly sentient ones."
{After the Flyer beams up the Doctor and 5 surviving Hirogen the shot changes to an space shot showing Voyager and the other ships while Janeway makes a log entry in voiceover.}
Janeway (as herself in voiceover): "Nyah, nyah, nyah I was right!"
{The Hirogen demands the holograms and their ship but Janeway says they'd have to take it by force.}
Janeway; 'Oh, so I'm only willing to stand up for the holograms when the enemy is vastly outnumbered."
{In the transporter room Janeway tells the crewman to beam her over to the holograms vessel.}
Janeway (mimicking fighting sounds as herself): "Hey! Ow! Stop hitting me! I'm sorry all right!"
{When Janeway gets to the ship B'Elanna tells her Iden is unrecoverable while the rest of the holograms programs are fine.}
(The crew just stare at each other in disbelief.)
{Janeway offers to take the hologram Kajal to Voyager's holodeck and keep her active.}
B'Elanna (as herself): "Well, that, or we could install one of those photonic generators on the ship then she and the Doctor would be able to move around freely."
{Kajal says the ship is her home.}
Seven (as Kajal): "I've lived here my entire free life, the whole week."
Janeway (as herself): "Though that would mean adding to the crew which wouldn't happen unless the ratings would be sagging."
{Janeway says she can't let her go off on her own.}
All: "Who asked you?"
Janeway (as herself): "Were just going to tape over the other sentient holograms with music from the radio or something."
{The Hirogen Technician offers to keep an eye on her.}
Janeway (as herself): "Well I'm sure an admitted coward should be enough to keep a killer hologram in line."
{Janeway says she probably doesn't have any right to tell them how to live their lives.}
Janeway (as herself): "Not that it's ever stopped me from doing it before."
{Janeway then reminds them to consider the consequences of their actions.}
B'Elanna (as herself): "You mean like we did?"
{Janeway and the Doctor talk about his actions and Janeway declines punishing him because he was just being who his program has expanded to be.}
All: "WHAT?"
Doctor (as himself): "It's not about who I am! It's about enforcing ship discipline like you would for any organic being!"
{The scene fades out showing Voyager slowly flying through space.}
Paris: "I guess we're cruising at impulse right now. Taking a more leisurely pace home."
Janeway; 'Lets GO!"
{The screen goes blank and the holodeck reverts to it's normal grid as the crew RUNS for the now open exit doors.}

{On the bridge the crew is present, but Seven and B'Elanna are working on something at the engineering station.}
Janeway: "All right, all right. We still agree this episode had its good points. Even if that did make the eventual let down hurt that much more. So let's all give one good point and one bad point. I would say a good point was that it actually connected up with an earlier episode. The bad point would be my unwillingness to even consider if the holograms were sentient. Nor do anything to protect even the possibility of a new life form."
Chakotay: "Easy, the good point is that having a spiritual hologram raised questions about the very nature of the soul. The bad point is they made it a moot point when they had him go psycho."
Tuvok: "A good point would be that the premise of the episode came from a good idea, even if it failed in the execution."
Janeway: "Tuvok…"
Tuvok: "The bad pint would be that they created an interesting and charismatic character like Iden only to turn him into a stereotypical cult leader."
B'Elanna: "Well, I liked how I was able to sympathize with the holograms, but then again the bad point would be that it seemed to have an off and on switch."
Seven: :The good point would be the several points where there was some subtext between myself and B'Elanna. The bad point is that they still made reference to her marriage to Tom Paris."
Doctor: "The good point would be that for a hologram episode, not only did I not get made a fool of I made a rather noble standing. The bad point would be I had a Benedict Arnold subroutine in my matrix and betrayed most everybody."
Harry: "The good point would be that the holograms WERE interesting characters and their scenes were pretty darn good. The bad point would be that in comparison the crew of Voyager looked like the computer simulations."
Paris: "Well it may be selfish of me, but I think the good point was the fact I didn't have much of a part in this episode."
All (except Paris): "We agree."
Paris (grimacing): "The bad point would be the heavy use of the reset button including that photon generator and why the Doc didn't pick one up."
{The viewscreen comes to live showing Pearl in the Widowmaker.}
Pearl: "So, is your little game over?"
Janeway (smirking): "Is yours?"
(Pearl looks over at Bobo who is still watching hockey and she grimaces.)
Pearl: "So what did you think? Did it hurt?"
Janeway: "We composed a special response."
{Pearl looks curious as Seven and B'Elanna step away from what they were working on to reveal a photonic generator from the episode. Smiling the crew beams it over to the Widowmaker where Iden materializes holding his Bajoran phaser rifle.}
Iden: "We need to talk."
{Iden then reaches over and presses the button making the entire screen go blank.}

{A shot in sickbay where the Doctor speaks to Chakotay as he leaves and says that he can't blame a hologram for trying.}
